Core concepts

Use these concepts as explicit rules rather than changing them after seeing the outcome.

E

Entry rule

Use an exact event such as a close, structure shift, acceptance, or successful retest.

T

Timing trade-off

Earlier entries improve price but use less evidence; later entries do the opposite.

C

Consistency

Apply the same confirmation definition during replay, backtesting, and live execution.

Interactive lesson

Change the inputs, inspect the chart, and evaluate the decision before revealing the answer.

Bullish pullback recoveryChoose a confirmation model, then select the candle that permits entry

Entry confirmation process

The first candle that satisfies the written model is the candidate—not the candle that later looks best.

1

Choose the model

Select reaction, structure shift, retest, or another objective event before the setup.

2

Mark the trigger level

Identify the price and timeframe used to determine confirmation.

3

Wait for completion

Do not count an intrabar wick when the rule requires a close.

4

Verify the trade still works

After confirmation, recalculate invalidation distance and room to target.

Confirmation trade-offs

ModelTimingEvidenceTypical trade-off
Reaction closeEarlierLow–mediumBetter price, more false starts
Structure shiftMiddleMedium–highBalanced price and confirmation
RetestLaterHighMore evidence, possible missed trade or worse price

Common mistakes

1
Treating any favorable candle as confirmationThe candle must satisfy the specific rule, not merely move in the desired direction.
2
Changing from retest to breakout after a missed tradeThis makes historical results impossible to compare honestly.
3
Entering after confirmation destroys rewardA confirmed setup can still become a no-trade when the entry is too late.
4
Assuming more confirmation guarantees successConfirmation changes evidence and timing, not certainty.

Completion standard

✓
Finish when you can pick, for each model, the first candle that satisfies its written rule on every tab.

Including the losing entry the reaction model takes on the failed tab, and no valid entry for the two models that tab never completes.
